It seems that everywhere you look, news stations are covering the spread of thecoronavirus pandemic that has taken hold of the globe. The latest study reported from the National Institute of Health (NIH) states that, “coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was detectable in aerosols for up to three hours, up to four hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel1. The findings from this study used a similar virus to COVID-19 to derive their findings which has shown that shared objects such as writing utensils (pens, mechanical pencils, styluses) can still harbor surface particles containing the coronavirus that live up tothree days outside a host and provide a vector for infection.

This news is concerning. Over 1.6 billion pens are used and thrown away annually just in the United States. Businesses usually have a cup full of ballpoint pens in their front area, each one used has the potential to spread infections to others.

So what can be done to keep these pens to reduce infection? Sanitation using an alcohol-based sanitizer is not only affordable, but an effective means of doing so. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that in order to practice safe hygiene in the face of the coronavirus, one must use “alcohol-based hand sanitizers with greater than 60% ethanol2, while the World Health Organization (WHO) states that shared equipment be cleaned, “by using ethyl alcohol 70%3. Laboratory data suggests that the use of ethyl alcohol based sanitizer “inactivates viruses that are genetically related to, and with similar physical properties as, the 2019-nCoV”.

The CleanBlock solution is >70% ethyl alcohol solution, using organic, cruelty free ingredients, and is 100% made in the USA. It has shown to be effective in reducing the number of bacteria, viruses, and fungi that grow on the surfaces of pens, styluses, or other writing utensils in hospitals, clinics, offices, or wherever pens are used. Unsure? Our product is review-backed from customers all over the nation, find out yourself! Pick up a CleanBlock today while supplies last!
